CAKE INFORMATION / PRICING FOR CAKE 4 SURE
Most of the cakes I have done in the past were made from a picture or drawing given to me by my clients. I like that because I am able to make your cake to suit your taste. Other cakes, my clients have said, "Go for it!". So you don’t know what you want? That’s not a problem! If you are located in or around the Louisville, Kentucky or Southern Indiana region, together we will create a personalized cake that will be both beautiful and delicious for whatever occasion you choose.
Types of Cake Flavors
I am able to make any flavor of cake. If I don’t have the recipe, it is nothing for me to research it.
Below you will find the most common flavors used:
- White
- Yellow
- Chocolate
- Marble
- Lemon
- Orange
- Strawberry
(Specialty cakes – carrot, Italian cream, peanut butter, red velvet, etc. has an added charge of $.50/slice, because these cakes require more ingredients.)
Types of Icing
There are many types of icing, buttercream being the favorite in this area.
Buttercream is creamy, sweet, and easy to color. French buttercream is a boiled buttercream which is also creamy, sweet, and very flavorable. This icing is used mostly as a filling. Cream cheese icing is a favorite for some specialty cakes. It has a sweet, creamy, cheesy flavor. Royal and Color Flow icing is an icing that dries very hard. It is used mostly in preparing permanent decorations such as flowers and plaques. Boiled icing is a favorite of many (used mostly in the south). It’s not buttery as the buttercream icing. Italian meringue is a fluffy icing and is lighter than basic buttercream. It’s a bit more complicated to make. It’s not recommended for hot, humid weather. Rolled fondant is an icing that is rolled out. You can either cover the cake with it and/or make designs to put on your cake. It has a chewy texture. Gum paste is a combination of fondant and other ingredients. It is used to make flowers, your drapes, swags, woven, and more elaborate decorations. This is for decoration purposes only. Gum paste is made of edible products, but these items are not edible.
Types of Filling
There are many types of fillings; frosting, pudding, preserves, creams, etc. I will help you determine which one is suitable for your flavor of cake, if you are undecided. There is an additional charge of $.50/slice for a filling in your cake, other than frosting.
The All Occasion Cake
Anniversary, birthday, office functions, etc. are custom priced, but affordable, depending on your design, flavor, shape, and size. An appointment would be great, but not necessary, to make sure we’re on the same page with the design, flavor, shape, and size. A deposit of half of the cost is preferred at that time (Make sure to call for details.). The rest of payment is due upon delivery.
The Wedding Cake
Appointments are a requirement for your wedding cake. Bring a picture if you like. Bring several pictures! That will help me know your taste. I have plenty of cake designs and pictures, if you are undecided. Already picked out your dresses? Bring a piece of the fabric or ribbon. Consultation is $10.00/hour paid up front.
Pricing
Please remember ALL my cakes are baked to order, no frozen pre-made cakes are purchased for use as wedding or other types of cakes. Planning is key! I need the notice; planning, planning, planning. Presently, I do work from an office in my home, but bake off-site.
I would appreciate at least a two week notice for all occasion cakes, if not sooner. As soon as you know that you would like to have a cake for your event, that's when you call me. For wedding cakes, please, a year advance booking would be appreciated, or "the sooner the better". But, for the "last minute" weddings, please give me at least one month advance notice and there will be an additional fee for those last minute wedding cakes. Preparation and planning must be done in order to book my space and to make sure all ingredients, supplies, etc. are on hand. I do not charge a delivery or set up fee. I do charge a fuel surcharge for venues located outside the ten mile radius of my office.
